When Cara & Brian asked if I could come to Chicago to photograph their wedding I was so excited. Not only is it my favorite city, I also could cross another big city off my wedding photography bucket list ( New York 2 years ago, now looking at you Vegas and Miami!). The day started off with pouring rain so I made some adjustments to the plan and we did the first look inside of McCormick Place. I personally love the vast space this area offers, especially when it's not crowed so it feels as though the couple has the entire area to themselves. We then hopped on a chartered bus (I highly recommend this option for traveling around a city) and headed to Garfield Conservatory Park. All of the different rooms with various exotic plants made it easy to get a variety of images quickly, plus I think it's so cool how all of these plants reach up towards a glass and metal roof, it makes for a great backdrop. After that we headed towards the Planetarium, one of the best locations to get the whole skyline in a photograph. We took a few photos there and then it was off to the venue 19 East Chicago. If you are looking for a chic-industrial location...this is it. We did a few photos upstairs where they have a massive window looking towards the city, a beautiful sight. Next came the ceremony. I love how much natural light floods into the front room where the ceremony took place. It was a beautiful ceremony followed by great toasts and a live band that had everyone dancing. I got to sneak Cara and Brian out towards the end of the night to do a few more photos under the L train before we called it a night. I had a blast spending the day with this awesome couple. Enjoy these preview images from that day!
