This past Saturday, I drove down to Grant Station in Grant-Valkaria, Florida on the east coast just south of Melbourne. I found my destination at a beautifully rustic brown barn right off of A1A. It was here that Erika & Danny were getting married. There's a small house on the property that has been split into two large sections, one for the girls and one for the guys. This split made traveling between the two wedding parties a breeze! After a quick lap around the venue to plan out a few photos and familiarize myself with the venue, I checked in with the bride and groom. Then 2 bridesmaids and I took the dress over to the barn for photos. It's an advantage to start early with the photographs because then we can utilize spots for the dress that will become busy when all the vendors start to arrive and setup. Once we had photos of the dress, I went back and grabbed all of the other little details that Erika would be wearing on her wedding day, as well as a few hair and makeup photos. After that, I went right next door and grabbed the guys so we could knock out all their portraits before the ceremony. They were a ton of fun and helped keep Danny smiling the whole time. At this point Erika had gotten in her dress and we went in to capture photos of her mother helping her fasten the back of her dress. It was starting to get close to the ceremony and guests had started to arrive so we utilized the character of the room to capture portraits of Erika and her girls before they prepared to walk down the aisle.
The ceremony was a beautiful sunny spot surrounded by tropical plants. I just loved how the sun light shone through the fabric that was hung over the wooden arch. Once the ceremony concluded we jumped right into family portraits before focusing back on the bride and groom and their wedding party. The combination of sunlight, colors and this group of people just worked so perfectly that the photos didn't need any editing. Once we were done with some fun group photos, I quickly took advantage of all the lush greenery and the train tracks out back to create some stunning portraits of the bride and groom.
The reception was held in the barn, a medium sized venue decorated with traditional rustic barn decor but accented by elegant chandeliers hanging overhead. The couple made a grand entrance through the barn doors and went right into their first dance. The maid of honor and best man gave heartfelt speeches, the couple danced with their parents, cut the cake and tossed the bouquet and garter to their friends. They also played the shoe game, that resulted in a lot of laughs. The couple set up a smore's station outside and that was a big hit. As the night drew to a close we snuck out for a few quick night portraits before the couple shared one last dance all alone in the barn. As they enjoyed this private moment their coordinator Lori from Grand Events by Lori was setting by all their guests for a beautiful sparkler exit. It was such a joy to get to know this couple and I'm so excited to share this preview of their wedding day with everyone. Congratulations Erika & Danny, we wish you nothing but the best for your future!!
